What is a stairlift?

A stairlift is a chair that travels along a rail close to either side of the stairs at your home. The rail is attached directly to the stair treads, not the wall and installation takes only a few hours. Stannah stairlift designs can accommodate any type of staircase, including wood, metal, stone or concrete. Carpet and doors at the bottom of the staircase are also no problem. Handrails may need to be relocated for installation of your stairlift. A power socket is required within 1 metre of the top or the bottom of the stairs, preferably on the same side as the stairs. All our stairlifts are designed and manufactured to international safety standards, for your absolute safety and peace of mind.
